Below is information that we have gained through experience and hope will assist you. If you need any more assistance, please call us at Affordable Computer Repairs and Service on 3397 1215 or 0409 974 707.
Causes and Fixes of a Frozen Screen
Insufficient Memory
Your laptop may freeze due to insufficient RAM space. It could also shut down and show the blue screen of death as a result. If your laptop has a frozen screen due to insufficient RAM, the easy fix is to free up storage. This can be done by deleting unnecessary programs and files that you have previously downloaded.
Other solutions are to defrag your hard drive or upgrade your machine with more RAM.
Overheating
A build-up of dust within the laptop can be a cause of the laptop freezing. It is important to keep your laptop dust and smoke-free. It may be necessary to open the laptop and clean the components. We don’t, however, recommend that you do this yourself unless you have experience in laptop repairs. A simple fix is to use a can of compressed air to remove any dust, ensure the laptop vents are not obstructed in any way.
Overheating can also be caused by a faulty fan. This is usually an inexpensive laptop repair, and we are happy to offer this service to you.
Overheating could alternatively mean that you need to re-seat the heat sink – again, we are happy to conduct this repair for you.
Virus
It may be that your laptop has a virus and again we can remove this for you for a fixed fee. Remember, it is important to keep your antivirus software up to date to help prevent your machine from getting infected.

As stated previously, we have plenty of experience in resolving this issue for our customers and would welcome your call if you are unable to resolve the problem yourself.
